My Latest Read

Product Details (photo taken from Amazon.com)

I did something that I hardly EVER do…I read an entire book cover to cover in less than a month! Even more, I stayed up until almost midnight last night to finish the book…don’t get me wrong, I love reading but typically value my sleep more than a good book.

The book that I found myself totally captivated by was The Same Kind of Different as Me  by, Ron Hall & Denver Moore.  I had heard several accolades about this book but had never taken the time or initiative to sit down and actually crack the cover open.

The book takes place in Cowtown, which I found to be really neat as I recognized names of people and places. The characters in the book come from totally different walks of life, one is an international art dealer and one is a homeless man who grew up in the sharecropping South.

The two are brought together through atypical circumstances, but throughout their walks they realize that they have a lot to learn from one another, though they are totally different.

Both men have a love for the Lord that really captivated me as a reader.

For example…

There’s somethin I learned when I was homeless: Our limitation is God’s opportunity. When you get all the way to the end of your rope and there ain’t nothing you can do, that’s when God takes over.” p.169

This is such a pearl of truth…something that I desire to remember to use as a filter when I find myself discouraged because God’s plan is truly greater than any plan I could ever create on my own and when I feel out of control, that’s when I need to let go and let God!

With all this said, I would highly recommend the book!

Happy Tuesday!

Be blessed.

  1. I'm reading this book right now! It is amazing! I was blessed to spend last week with Mary Ellen Davenport and her family...God continues to work through them! They live on the other side of Virginia from y'all...small world! Missing you and praying for your sweet family!
