Daddy Book

Little A received the book, Dance Me Daddy, in her Christmas stocking.

To be honest, the book was on sale for a dollar just before Christmas and looked sweet…I’d never heard of it or ever thought it would become the ‘hit’ that it has.

‘Hit’ may be an understatement as this little book has become the one and only book that A requests before nap and bedtime. The book has affectionately been dubbed as the ‘Daddy Book’…when it’s time for bed, A runs to her room saying ‘Dadeeee Dadeeee’ and picks up the book to give to C (or I).

We all (B included) have the book memorized…it really is a sweet book that highlights the bond that daddy’s and daughters have and makes me dream (though I don’t want to wish this time away) of the day when C, Lord-willing gets to dance with his precious daughter at her own wedding.

Which makes my heart remember the sweet memory I have of dancing with my own Daddy the day I got married…

Bathtub Fun!

The couple weeks ago, we surprised the nuggets with a silly bubble bath.

The silliness was complete with homemade bathtub paint.

They may have ended their bath ‘messier’ than they started…but enjoyed themselves greatly!

Valentines

We needed an excuse to buy some conversation hearts…so we put B to work on patterning and all (except little A) enjoyed the ‘fruits’ of his labor after tackling the project.

The nuggets were diligent with their card creating…

B patiently signed cards for all of his classmates and grandparents…this was no small feet!

He gave his friends bubbles…

I tried to snap a photo of the two to include in the cards for family…who would have thought this might be the challenge that it was?!?!

The week of Valentine’s Day we enjoyed a special sprinkle-filled lunch…

And heart shaped donuts!

B had the privilege of going to school on February 14th…which meant lots and lots of fun loot to sift through when he got home!

IMG_3832

C and I enjoyed a romantic candle-lit dinner to celebrate…well, not so much, but we did enjoy a fun dinner together as a family, breakfast for dinner!

The nuggets helped me with dinner…

Before saying goodnight, we opened Valentine sussys sent graciously from loved ones…both nuggets squealed with delight as they opened the different packages that had been addressed to them!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Typical

This little guy’s delight for bedtime reading continues.

It's often that we go in to turn off his light and discover this.

Such a nugget!

Winter Fun

A couple weeks ago, some friends invited us over for some impromptu snowman-making fun.

This was C’s inaugural snowman creating experience…he had quite a learning curve to achieve as is identified in the size of the snowy man!

IMG_2168

IMG_2177

The snowman building was interrupted with some good old fashioned sledding.

IMG_2174

IMG_2173

I was grateful for C’s willingness to sled and tow the nuggets back up the hill…as my growing tummy seems to be quite the hindrance to such activities these days.

IMG_2172

IMG_2171

The time outside left both nuggets tuckered out as is identified by little A’s red cheeks and tired eyes…they slept hard and undoubtedly dreamt about all the snowy fun!

Shoe Shelves

C was kind to oblige my desire to create some order for our family’s winter boot/shoe collection, by installing some shelves in a storage closet near our ‘mud room’.

B was tasked with being the assistant foreman on the project…

Helpers

These two are quite the curious helpers, something I am trying so hard to embrace with patience my heart doesn’t always haveSmile.

Though I did enjoy help with making some pillow covers a couple weeks ago…it was surreal to have these nuggets watch/help me with this sewing project as I remember ‘helping’ with many sewing projects my mom had going as a little girl

This day in particular was so sweet as Gram came over to teach me and got to watch me ‘teach’ her grand-nuggets.

A moment I’ve engrained in my heart!

Buddies

This is where Ella has taken to spending the majority of her time lately. C and I thought it was sweet until b ‘fessed up and told us that he’s been waking up when it’s dark outside to give Ella some dog food…suddenly it all made sense, oh how this pup likes her food!

Purple Party!!!

In mid-January we donned our purple as we rallied and prayed boldly that God’s gracious healing hands would move a mountain in our family’s life…

He graciously did!!!

We continue to pray with boldness for this miracle to continue!

Piano Pals

The other night C and I enjoyed an impromptu piano performance.

There was singing and playing/pounding as these two worked together to serenade and stall their bedtime routines.

Farm Field Trip

A couple weekends ago, my aunt and uncle hosted a family reunion of sorts…white elephant style.

We had planned to take the nuggets and cousin nuggets outside to play, sled, meet the animals and get a tour of the farm. Plans changed as the wind chill hovered around 30 below zero.

The cold weather didn’t hinder the fun as Uncle J and Aunt L were gracious to bring one baby goat inside for the nuggets to meet…

Later, we all enjoyed a HYSTERICAL rendition of a white elephant gift exchange.  Laughter almost turned to tears as the giving/exchanging increased in intensity.

After things quieted down, we enjoyed a delicious meal. My Aunt is humble beyond words, but quite possibly one of the best cooks/bakers I know. In effort to keep the silliness going, my Aunt and Uncle planed a ‘Church basement casserole’ meal…complete with homemade bread, jams and some tasty cheesy, potatoey, starchy…totally stereo-typically Minnesotan hot-dish goodness. We all ate to our hearts and bellies content!

Speaking of which, three of the older generation cousins bellies contain babies, which we tried to capture…with the comedic help of my younger brother.

3 preg girls and j

The entire afternoon/evening was so much fun…chaotic but fun. All in all there were more than 20 adults and 7 kiddos which provided many laughs, lots of business and even more memories.

Be blessed.

Sibling Sorting

These two have taken to sorting the pantry together.

I use the word ‘sort’ loosely, as typically it means pulling items out and ‘forgetting’ to put them back in.  Their giggles and enjoyment of being together make the mess all worth-while…most of the time!
