Friday FUNday!

This week, we ventured out of our neck of the wood on another Friday  apple orchard adventure…this time Gram joined us!

We once again donned our purple, though this week proved to be a little chillier so the purple got covered over with fleece and headed out to a different orchard.

Before starting our exploration, we headed inside the orchard’s barn to enjoy some warm apple cider and snack…a chocolate chip cookie almost ONE FOOT in diameter!!!

After our tummies were filled and the morning rain subsided we stepped outside to explore.

First the train jungle gym…

IMG_1523

Then the hay mountain!

IMG_1524

IMG_1526

Then we ventured over to say hello to some goats…

IMG_1527

Gram and B fed the goats…they were pretty silly as they ate.

IMG_1534

Then we took a hayride to get a tour of the orchard…

IMG_1540

The ride was bumpy and  fun…the tractor driver described the different tree and apple varieties. He also explained that a late spring frost adversely affected this particular orchard’s crop…hence the lack of trees available for self-picking…thus another adventure without apple picking!

IMG_1541

Since we couldn’t pick apples, we ventured out into the raspberry patch to pick a couple pints of berries...a first for the nuggets and myself!

IMG_1545

The nuggets ate this up…Little A quite literally, as we noticed quite a bit of red juice on her finger tips and face!

IMG_1546

I wasn’t able to capture the berry that A is holding up to show me in this photo…it was really red, really juicy and really smooched!

IMG_1547

B was content to hold the pints while he watched Gram pick…

IMG_1549

He followed her like a shadow…so engaged and interested in each berry she picked (he even tried one!)

As we made our way back to the barn, we walked through a pumpkin patch…

IMG_1553

Little A had a hard time navigating her way through all the crisscrossed maze-like pumpkin vines…but was curious and wanted to keep up as always.

Upon returning to the barn, we enjoyed a tasty WARM lunch.  Gram treated us to some crowd favorite ‘Honeycrisp’ apples, caramel dip and an apple crisp to take home to share with C.

We could have frozen this adventure in time…it was so fun to watch these nuggets explore the big world around them as they simply took it all in with smiles on their faces.

Thank you Gram for sharing such a special day with us!

Be blessed.

Worker Man

Defines our little guy. Oh, how he loves to work alongside C on the myriad ongoing projects we have around our neck of the wood.

It makes my heart melt as I watch my two boys work…C’s patience is incredible as he lets B ‘help’ and talks with B about whatever project is at hand.

It’s not rare to hear phrases similar to these come out of B’s mouth, ‘This is a pliers’ or ‘Here’s the wrench Daddy!’.

B’s little heart exemplifies Colossians 3:23 – ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man’. We pray that this work ethic someday transpires into a desire to work whole-heartedly for the Lord.

With-that-said…

B has gotten quite comfortable around C’s workbench and tools…a little too close for comfort in my mind as he simply sees himself as capable as C.

When I stumbled upon this workshop at a neighbor’s garage sale, I jumped at the opportunity to provide B with a safe, B-friendly workspace…that could fit snuggly next to his C’s workbench in the garage.

IMG_1460

The set came complete with tools, nuts, bolts, screws and even a working light!

IMG_1461

B was thrilled when we opened the garage door and he discovered his new work space.

IMG_1511

He and C quickly got to work as they tried out the vice-grip…

IMG_1512

And even used the plastic pliers to tighten a plastic bolt…

IMG_1514

The light may have been the biggest hit, as B offered to turn the garage light off and use his light to help C work.

IMG_1517

Later, once the evening’s projects got under way, our little worker was set…ready and wanting to help, as always!

IMG_1519

Happy working.

Be blessed.

Lazy Fall Afternoon

The weather around our neck of the wood has been nothing short of fantastic recently…we are still in need of rain, but the leaves are turning and the air is turning windy and crisp.

It feels like the trees are changing before our eyes…

IMG_1494

I feel the same way about our nuggets as they seem to be changing at almost the same speed!

In effort to savor the their ‘nugget-ness’ we headed outside for some good old fashioned play time.

We started playing in the sand…though Little A tried tasting it…

IMG_1464

Their little profiles look so similar…even the pensive/thinking-like eye brows are similarSmile.

IMG_1465

Then we headed to the swing set to explore and play…

IMG_1480

Later, B decided he to make us some stew in the kitchen…

IMG_1486

He called C to tell him about it…

IMG_1482

All while little A tried and tried to keep up.

IMG_1481

Then it was off to mow the lawn…

IMG_1496

Little A got creative with choosing her mower as B was pretty enthralled with his.

IMG_1491

IMG_1503

She wants so badly to be just like him…

IMG_1499

And relishes in the moments when he looses interest long enough to jump in and be just like her brother!

IMG_1508

Happy Fall!

Be blessed.

Popcorn Date!

The other night we enjoyed a popcorn date…courtesy of B making some ‘smart choices’.

These three were giddy as they walked to the popcorn store…Little A giggled and giggled as she tried to keep up with her big brother!

The popcorn was DELICIOUS (seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever tasted any better) and the memory was even sweeter.

Link

I’m not usually one to pass along links but THIS is pretty hysterical!!!!

Brings hilarity to some of the ‘daily-ness’ of life…though we wouldn’t trade it for the world.

So blessed by our nuggets and the joy and mess that they bring!

Be blessed.

Block Party

This is how these two roll…

IMG_1444

At least to the annual neighborhood block party!

What a treat it was to be able to enjoy good food and sweet company was we gathered at the end of the street and watched little ones play.

Sweet sweet memories!

Be blessed.
