Our First House Guests!

Gigi and Papa just came for their first Minnesota visit…we enjoyed showing them around our new neck of the wood and got to spend lots of of good quality time together.

Here is a glimpse of their trip…

Fall seemed to blow in the day that Gigi and Papa arrived.  In effort to slowly ease them into the chilly weather, we chose a fun indoor park to play at before meeting C for lunch.

B loved playing with Papa…

After playing, we met C for lunch and then came home to give Gigi and Papa a tour of our new home. B enjoyed showing them the backyard, his trwactor, trawlor, twain table and room. Later, the kiddos went down for a nap while C and his dad snuck in a round of golf.

That night, we bundled up and headed to the local high school football game to cheer on our new team.  It was fun to experience Friday night football in a new light, wondering how we might get to know fellow fans in the coming months and even years. There was a definite buzz in the air as school had just started and many people were talking about the upcoming homecoming week, dance etc.

B seemed to like the game and the band…but was most impressed by the bag of popcorn and bottle of water that Gigi bought him…that kept him entertained throughout the majority of the game.

On Saturday morning, we took a little ‘nature walk’ around a park near our house. Then we enjoyed donuts from the bakery that we have been ‘trying out’ and headed to the cabin for a relaxing afternoon. I wish I had thought to take photos at the cabin…but maybe next time.

On our way home from the cabin, we drove through the little town of Stillwater, MN to get dinner. We ate at the Freight House, one of C and my favorites…Gigi and Papa tried walleye for the first time…which seemed to be an instant Minnesota hit.

B’s favorite part of dinner was the ‘balloon artist’ who made him a TCU (purple and white) helicopter.

On Sunday, we headed to church. B got to show Gigi and Papa where his Sunday School class meets and Gigi and Papa got to get a little taste of the church we have been most consistently attending.

After church, we headed home to get bundled up to head out to Target Field for a ball game. The weather was a little soggy, but we dressed for it and overall enjoyed taking the entire experience in.

Little A sat with Gigi…she kept us laughing as we watched the game and even took a brief nap on Gigi’s lap!

After the game, we enjoyed some warm and dry down time at home.  B enjoyed his bedtime routine with Gigi while Little A enjoyed sitting in Papa’s crook.

On Monday, we spent the morning around the house. B played in the backyard with both Papa and Gigi before heading to meet C for lunch.

After lunch, C and Papa played another round of golf while the rest of us headed home for afternoon naps. After naps, we met C & Papa at another one of our favorite restaurants, Fletchers.  It was nice enough to sit outside which provided B with much appreciated dining entertainment.

B watched the boats ‘park’ for dinner, the ducks eat french fries and even witnessed a big kid fall into the water (he was okay)!  Just before we packed up, a big screen inflated across the way and we saw the pregame show for Monday Night Football.

Little A enjoyed dinner from the comfort of her stroller…

After dinner, we snapped a group photo and headed to a local custard shop for dessert.

Then we headed home for a little more play time before bath and bedtime…

B helped Gigi open a little sussy from one of our new favorite places before turning in for the night.

Little A just couldn’t handle how hungry her tummy was and enjoyed a midnight snack from the comfort of the tub with Gigi’s help.

Our time with Gigi and Papa was filled to the brim. It was such a treat to be able to show them around our new home and even more special to be able to spend consecutive days together.  We are grateful for the time we got to spend and looking forward to many more visits together.

Gigi and Papa, thank you for a fun weekend! We love you!

Be blessed.
