This fall we realized that B and his diggers were out growing our sandbox…most of the diggers were being played with outside the box as they didn’t fit inside the large red sand crab toy we gave him for his first birthday.
This realization led us to think about making B his very own ‘in ground’ sandbox under a tree in our backyard. The thought was two fold…1. we had no idea how we might get grass to grow under the tree adjacent to our patio/deck and 2. we thought the spot might be perfect spot to watch B play from our deck or kitchen window as we imagined a larger sandbox might just invite hours of playtime come summer.
We planned on giving B the sandbox for a birthday present…but in Minnesota the ground doesn’t thaw until April/May so work didn’t commence until a couple weeks ago.
B was quick to be C’s apprentice for the job/his gift.
He helped measure…
He helped dig…
He helped pick up the sand and even got to see a ‘bobcat’ at work…
He helped unload the sand…
And helped spread the sand out…
When all the work was done…he got to work playing and couldn’t have been more thrilled to have his big diggers inside the box.
Oh the simple joys that sand can bring!
Be blessed.
p.s. the lack of bottom apparel is a reoccurring theme around our neck of the wood as it is helping our little guy gain ‘potty power’ as he calls it…but more on that later
