A couple weekends ago, my aunt and uncle hosted a family reunion of sorts…white elephant style.
We had planned to take the nuggets and cousin nuggets outside to play, sled, meet the animals and get a tour of the farm. Plans changed as the wind chill hovered around 30 below zero.
The cold weather didn’t hinder the fun as Uncle J and Aunt L were gracious to bring one baby goat inside for the nuggets to meet…
Later, we all enjoyed a HYSTERICAL rendition of a white elephant gift exchange. Laughter almost turned to tears as the giving/exchanging increased in intensity.
After things quieted down, we enjoyed a delicious meal. My Aunt is humble beyond words, but quite possibly one of the best cooks/bakers I know. In effort to keep the silliness going, my Aunt and Uncle planed a ‘Church basement casserole’ meal…complete with homemade bread, jams and some tasty cheesy, potatoey, starchy…totally stereo-typically Minnesotan hot-dish goodness. We all ate to our hearts and bellies content!
Speaking of which, three of the older generation cousins bellies contain babies, which we tried to capture…with the comedic help of my younger brother.
The entire afternoon/evening was so much fun…chaotic but fun. All in all there were more than 20 adults and 7 kiddos which provided many laughs, lots of business and even more memories.
Be blessed.
