It’s been awhile!
We’ve experienced some “technical difficulties” in our neck of the wood…but are finally back up and running and hopeful that we can get caught up with sharing photos and little tid bits of our family’s life before little A arrives!
We enjoyed celebrating B’s birthday a touch early this year and hosted his party at his school. It was great to be able to celebrate at a place where little ones could play and simply be kids…not to mention quite a treat to not have to have our house clean and ready to host a party.
The theme of the party was everything “choo choo” as our little guy continues to be fascinated by any and everything locomotive.
I found this cake mold around Christmas time (at the onset of B’s fascination with trains) and hoped that he would still like trains enough to use it for his birthday…which ended up working out quite well!
B (and other little friends) were quite fascinated by all the bright colored and sweet train cars…
When it was time to sing and eat the cake, B was not fascinated with the idea of being sung to. He furrowed his little eye brows and put his head into C’s shoulder as we all sang “Happy Birthday” to him.
B’s fascination and joy did resume when C offered him part of the train’s engine to eat!
It was such a treat to celebrate our precious little guy’s second year (and our second year of parenthood) surrounded by family and friends!
After the party, we enjoyed a little bit of extra time with family. C and I were so grateful to have had our respective families travel to be a part of B’s party.
Papa, Gigi, Gram & Grandpa…
Mimi…
Auntie B…
Our little family of three…
After we said our goodbyes we put a very exhausted little birthday conductor down for a long nap!
We felt it only appropriate to kick off B’s actual birthday by heading to our favorite bakery to enjoy breakfast.
B rode to breakfast in style as he donned his bumble bee pajama's and TCU hat in his “Daddeee’s truuuk” (his vehicle of choice)…
With so many tasty treats to choose from, B chose donut holes to eat for his first breakfast as a two year old!
He made sure to enjoy every last bite!
Later, before naptime, we headed to a new park for B to play at and explore…we found that he was drawn to play on the train…I can’t say that I was surprised in the least!
After B’s nap, B’s Papa, Gigi and Gram joined us for one last birthday celebration.
B was once again quite hesitant as a result of the birthday song (it didn’t help that the wait staff seemed to jump out of the woodwork to sing to him and put a sombrero on top of his head)…but our little two year old recovered nicely…
He even enjoyed some homemade bumble bee cake!
After dinner, just before bed, B opened his gifts from C and I. We found this play mat for him to drive his trains, cars, trucks and diggers on, I don’t know who was more excited, B or C? Oh, the joys of being a little boy!
C and I continue to marvel at the little toddler that B has become…it truly feels like we just held him for the first time at the hospital.
We are so grateful for B’s sunny disposition, his smile, his silly “b-isms” and even his trying two year old independent moments…he continues to be such a gift to us. We are humbled that the Lord has entrusted this little being into our care and wonder what the next year might hold?!
Here’s to choo choo trains, bumble bees and two year olds!
Be blessed.
