Lazy Weekend

I am still working to sift through each camera and all the photos we took during our quick family reunion trip to Texas a couple weeks ago..I want to give that post the adequate time that it deserves (as we had a fantastic time with C’s family).

So until then, here are a few photos I have snapped on my little point and shoot (in effort to continue posting as consistently as possible).

Last weekend was the first, and probably last full weekend (of the summer) that we were able to spend up at the cabin with my family…it has been quite a whirl-wind of a summer for all of us between job changes, moving, engagements, house purchases, house projects, school starting etc. etc. etc.  It was a treat to be able to be away from all the change and simply enjoy a lazy weekend together.

We were welcomed by the surprise of  these beautiful flowers that bloomed since our last cabin trip which makes me hopeful that one day our backyard can look this pretty…

And of course enjoying lazy-lengthy cabin breakfasts which the cabin is notorious for hosting!

We also attended the annual tractor pull at the county fair! B was quite enamored by the  loud tractors while A slept through all the shenanigans!

After the pull we explored the fair, looked at animals and introduced B to mini doughnuts!!!

It was quite a treat to have time to catch up…away from distractions!

If You Follow Blogs…

I would encourage you to follow this one:

http://www.aholyexperience.com/

the video on the most recent post (from 8.23.11) under the caption “This is grace” is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I am humbled by this family’s attitude toward the very obvious storm clouds circling around them…they are able to cling to God and trust in His goodness, providence and provision..they have hope and they are living out grace!

Happy Tuesday.

Be blessed.

Good Morning!

This is what I discovered upon entering the kitchen after my shower this morning…

The looks of a sweet (both literal and figurative) breakfast!

Happy Thursday!

(C, thanks for getting little guy up this morning so I could sleep in a touch and enjoy a nice uninterrupted shower!)

Wow!

Watch this video…I promise, I’m typically not one for “you tube” videos…but this is good!

A dear friend of mine encouraged me to read this book (the premise behind the video)…

CSC_1722

I downloaded the book and tried on many occasions to read it…I admit, I have gotten distracted, put it down and moved on with my day, week etc. etc. I hope to finish reading by the end of the summer and begin my own 1,000 gifts journal…at least that’s my goal.

I have several friends and acquaintances who have read the book and experienced a heart transformation in regard to seeing and experiencing God’s blessings (both large and small) on a daily basis.

I don’t doubt that God will use Ann’s Voskamps words to challenge and encourage my heart (even if it takes me several months to complete my reading)…and I hope they might do the same for others.

Happy Wednesday.

Be blessed.

Reading Nook

C was able to sneak a photo as Little A, Ella and I all enjoyed B’s rendition of his favorite “Rwode Whrk” (Road Work) book before putting our little guy to sleep in his big boy bed last night.

I relish in moments like this and am trying to slow down long enough to really soak them up.

Happy Wednesday!

(Miss J, B continues to love the book you gave him…he has it memorized! Thank you!!!)

Be blessed.

Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

I recently posted this article…

http://ourneckofthewood.blogspot.com/2011/07/convicted.html

After reading the article, I read Rachel’s book Loving the Little Years  and found my heart both convicted and encouraged all at the same time. I rarely find a book that I can’t put down and hardly ever stay up to read, yet found myself reading way past my typical bedtime…I laughed, cried and agreed with a lot that Rachel had to say.

I would highly recommend it!

In my opinion, loving the little ones that God has entrusted to us is one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs this side of Heaven.  It’s so refreshing to know that other moms are out there feeling the same feelings that I am…tripping over legos and matchbox cars, changing countless messy diapers…trying to selflessly display God’s love despite messy houses, snotty noses and other distractions that can easily feel overwhelming.  I have a long ways to go, but books like this provide ample reminders of the joy and the gift  in the  journey of motherhood.

Be blessed.

Family Photos

We received a photo portrait session as a Christmas gift and were sure to take advantage of it as it continues to seem that snapping a photo of all four of us takes an act of congress!

Our photographer (and dear friend) K, captured our little family in one of our favorite Fort Worth spots (the bridge where we got engaged) just before our move.

K did a fantastic job capturing the moment, we will treasure these photos and what they represent for a lifetime!

Here is a glimpse of some of our favorites…

Thank you to our family for the opportunity to have our photo made.
