Santa…

C found this article…

It’s pretty neat to think about as we ponder and dream about  our little family’s Christmas traditions.

A little side note…our small group is reading this book by Mark Driscoll &  Gerry Breshears…it is one of the most challenging books (other than Scripture) that I have ever read and I highly suggest it.

Sprinkle Helper

This afternoon, B helped me make chocolate covered pretzels. I dipped the pretzels and he worked to put sprinkles on the fresh chocolate.

He lost interest in the pretzels after a few minutes…but seemed to enjoy playing with the sprinkles and even sampled some of his work!

The red of the sprinkles stained his little hands and face.

Once again, after our project was complete, B headed straight for the bathtub.

B’s bath proved to be much more entertaining that the sprinkle portion of our afternoon!

This is our final product…I have to admit, I sampled some myself and they were a really good combination of salty and sweet…and SUPER easy!

Snownami 2010

(photo taken from kare11.com)

I can remember the feeling of pure bliss during blizzards when I was little. Waking up to watch the news to learn that school had been canceled…which was a rarity…and then going outside to play with our neighborhood friends. I am sure the novelty of this historical storm will wear off and people will be tired of being cooped up at home…but despite that truth…doesn’t playing in the snow sound like fun? Especially this time of year!!!!

I hope that all of my Minnesota family and friends are enjoying the white blanket of snow, staying safe and staying warm!

Here’s to blizzards and secretly hoping we might have snow in our neck of the wood soon!

Be blessed.

Our Little Elbow Patch Cowboy

We took our family Christmas card photos in the Stockyards this year.

B enjoyed watching cattle in the daily cattle drive as he unintentionally anticipated all the smiling he was going to need to do for the photos…

Don’t let these photos fool you, he lost his cool pretty quickly after he was asked to smile for the camera and realized he could no longer explore Cowtown’s historic landmark…I can’t complain, we were able to snap ONE photo of B looking seemingly happy and content…but can’t begin to imagine how difficult of a feat this will be next year with two little ones and Ella dog!

Happy Sunday!

Be blessed.

K & J…thanks for your patience and help with our little photo session!

Simply put…weekend mornings are one of our favorite parts of the week in our neck of the wood!

Here’s to family time!

Manger Painting

We continued our family manger tradition this past week…this is last year’s post that explains our idea behind the tradition…

http://ourneckofthewood.blogspot.com/2009/12/manger.html

B’s interest in painting was much greater this year than last…and he got right to work!

It was so much fun to watch B paint…C and I  painted each of his hands in effort to get this year’s handprints which B gladly placed on the wood…it was very apparent that he has practiced this activity at school!

Later he tried to paint his own hands…his manger board was quite a masterpiece!

B headed straight for a bath after painting…and then got tucked in for bed.

Afterwards, C and I sat at the table and reminisced about the past year as we  painted our own boards

Some of C’s favorite memories included our family trip to Colorado, his kayaking trip in Arkansas, learning we were pregnant, family time at the cabin, anticipating TCU’s trip to the Rose Bowl and the Rangers playing in the World Series.  Some of my favorite memories included celebrating milestones with B…including his first birthday, our trip to Colorado, time at the cabin, purple fever around Fort Worth and trying to sell our house in anticipation for our little girls arrival.

God has been so gracious to our little family this past year…we are so grateful and left wondering what next year’s manger might look like?

Happy Saturday.

Be blessed.
