My Walking Partner…

IMG_5248

Happy Tuesday.

Be blessed.

Little Helper

B took an extra long nap yesterday…which afforded his pregnant momma an extra long nap as well!

This meant we had to work extra hard and extra fast to get dinner ready…so fast we apparently forgot to put B’s shorts back on (though it seems only appropriate with the shirt that he is wearing, thank you Auntie B)!

Our new little kitchen is just that…LITTLE…which means that B’s “workspace” and my workspace over lap quite a bit (though he doesn’t seem to be bothered in the least)!

At one point, B took the water bottle from behind the yellow bowl, unscrewed the lid and poured the water into the bowl to stir and play with…needless to say, we had quite a mess on our hands!

Be blessed.

Have Patience, Have Patience…

Don’t be in such a hurry!

I have been trying to mutter the lyrics of this song (from Sunday school when I was little) to myself this week as we wait filled with anticipation for baby A’s arrival.

As of this weekend, I am officially the most pregnant that I have ever been. I now admit how “spoiled” we were with B’s arrival at 37 weeks…he was healthy and ready to make his big debut…which meant that I didn’t have to make it to week 38, 39, 40, etc.

This weekend, I went to get myself a pedicure, asked C to rub my feet, ate pineapple by the bowl full, enjoyed a couple “spicy” meals and took several walks…all in effort to try to move things along.

After making myself crazy, I have been humbly reminded that the Lord has already decided the day and the time of our little girl’s arrival…remembering Psalm 139…

“13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.”

and…

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

This week (and until little A arrives) I desire to be a better steward of the gift of pregnancy we have been given. To not wish away this time that little A has to get ready for the great big world and for us to enjoy our precious little B.

I’m sure I will still find excuses to walk and ask C to rub my feet…but as of today, the desire of my heart to is to try to let go and not take A’s delivery into my own hands but rather to trust in God’s timing and plan for our littlest one and to really savor the little bit of time that we have left as a family of three.

Thank you for your prayers for baby A’s delivery…for B’s transition to big brotherhood and for C’s and my transition to parenting and loving two little ones!

Happy 37 plus weeks (Monday).

Be blessed.

Stickers!

We finally broke out some stickers this afternoon.

I have to admit that stickers are not my favorite (the teacher in me cringes whenever I see stickers on things other than paper), however, I figured it wasn’t right to prevent our little guy from enjoying some sticky fine motor practice….

B was quite fascinated after getting over the initial frustration of learning how to peal the stickers off the adhesive paper.

I love that these photos capture the “choo choo”sound effects he made as he worked…his cheeks are priceless!

The activity kept his attention for longer than I anticipated…however, it wasn’t long before I heard him say “bah bye” choo choos and move onto different “work”.

Oh the joys of being two!

Be blessed.

All Aboard!

Saturday was a special day in our neck of the wood, made possible by B’s Papa, Gigi and one very large blue engine.

B’s Papa and Gigi gave B a certificate to ride Thomas the Train for his birthday…and Saturday was Thomas’ big local debut!

In the morning, when C and I were getting B ready to leave, we asked him is he was ready for a surprise…he politely said “No.” Then we asked him if he was ready to ride a choo choo train…the response we received was “Shuuuwah!” (sure).

As we drove to the train station, B was quick to point out any diggins (diggers), peace cours (police cars) and bi truu (big trucks) from his car seat.  The drive to the station could have been surprise enough for our little transportation fan… as we drove past many of his favorite vehicles.

Later, we rode a shuttle bus from the parking lot to the train station…this, like the drive to the station could have been another highlight of B’s morning, as he couldn’t stop saying “Buuuus! Buuus! as he sat on his Papa’s lap.

When we got off the bus, we actually saw a real train…B’s eyes lit up!

IMG_6213

B patiently waited for his chance to ride the train…it wasn’t difficult as there was a large sand box filled with diggers, shovels, buckets and trucks just waiting to be played with.

IMG_6220

Just before boarding, B caught a glimpse of some of the characters he reads about in his books…he was sure to give them a “high five”.

Just before boarding, Gigi and B blew us a kiss good bye…

And then were off!

B gave the conductor his ticket to punch…

IMG_5206

And then enjoyed the ride!

IMG_5205

He was sure to point out diggers and trucks as the train moved down the track.

About 25 minutes the threesome returned…B was all smiles!

We asked him how the ride was and he responded “Choo! Choo!” Leaving everyone assuming that the ride had been the ultimate highlight of the morning.

After the ride, we moved towards the front of the train to get close to the life-size Thomas…it was pretty neat to watch B’s face light up as he saw the character his listens to so many stories about.

After Thomas & B’s photo shoot, we said “Bye Bye” to Thomas…B seemed to be quite fascinated by the size of Thomas and his wheels.

IMG_6346

Our little guy was in his element!

IMG_6354

After saying goodbye to engine number one, B said hello to animals in a petting zoo before boarding the shuttle bus to head back to the car.

IMG_5236

It was so fun to be able to enjoy B’s train interest alongside him!

As we drove home, B resumed pointing out diggers, trucks and trains.  Later, when we put him down for his nap, he spent almost 20 minutes babbling choo choo noises to himself before actually falling asleep…which seemed to identify a morning well spent!

Gigi and Papa, Thank you for providing our little guy with such a special memory!

Happy Sunday.

Be blessed.

Seeing Double!

Well, not quite…but this is what the boy folk in our neck of the wood looked like on Friday.

Gotta love the Frogs!

Sweet Morsels to Remember…

“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” Psalm 90: 14

My heart has recently been convicted to live with more of an eternal perspective. To be grateful for each day and remember that my days  don’t belong to me, but instead belong to God, the Father, the creator of each day.  He is the one who allows the sun to rise each day and He alone is the one who wakes me up each morning.

I pray that I might learn how to be satisfied each morning with HIS unfailing love, that I might learn to sing for joy and be glad with every day that I have graciously been provided with…even if the day might feel a little challenging or even monotonous.

I can’t by any means say that I am able to do this, but I find myself challenged by God’s Word and wanted to share. May it bless your heart as it has mine…enjoy this new day that our Heavenly Father has so graciously provided!

Happy Friday.

Be blessed.
